a little town called solvang

who knew there was a full on
danish town in the middle of california?
i heard about this town called solvang one year ago and immediately
added it to my travel list. i hoped there would be a time when i'd be in
california and could drive the distance to this random town to get a little
taste of europe in the USA. i was so happy to find myself living in california
with a cute husband who was willing to make the drive to see this place!
luckily, it didn't disappoint. we loved walking all around, taking in
all of the fun dutch houses, looking in souvenir shops, trying
a few too many pastries, seeing the hans christian anderson museum, etc.
everyone add it to your list!
among many other pastries we tried, i loved the aebleskivers...
they are like little round dutch pancakes with yummy jam and powdered sugar!
we loved the horse-drawn town shuttle
...and of course loved the clock shops!
chase enjoying his cream cheese danish
fun to feel like we were in europe!
 hans christian anderson museum

this is our goal for every year of our life together. we're glad we've already crossed it off this year with solvang! we think with all of our upcoming adventures and moving around we might get more than just one new place checked off this year. :)

If you love Solvang, you have to come to Denmark and see the real stuff. You are always welcome to stay at our home and we will make you real danish food like æbleskiver and danish pastry.
